We knew Zaha Hadid's new condo tower, One Thousand Museum,
would have an indoor rooftop pool just under the helicopter pad but above the
penthouses but its quotient of spectacularness has, until now, been an absolute
mystery.
Renderings for starchitect Zaha Hadid's upcoming residential
skyscraper in downtown Miami have been released, and we're getting queasy just
looking at the jaw-dropping glass-enclosed, see-through rooftop pool.
One Thousand Museum as the building is known, will not only
alter Miami's skyline with an ultra-sophisticated and ultra-modern concrete
exoskeleton, but features a stunning Aquatic Center and Sky Lounge on the 60th
and 61st floors, just under the building's helipad and right above the
penthouses. The rooftop pool has an underwater glass wall so the incredible
view of Miami below can be admired by splashing residents.
We wouldn't expect anything less from the Iraqi-born,
London-based architect, who is known for designing inimitable, futuristic
structures around the world. Hadid is a pioneer who became the first woman to
win the Pritzker Architecture Prize (the Nobel Prize of her field) in 2004. And
Miami has already had a taste of Hadid's work with her "Elastika"
installation, on permanent display in the atrium of the Moore Building in the
Design District.
One Thousand Museum, which will be the architect's first
skyscraper in the western hemisphere (go Miami!), is scheduled to break ground
in the spring of 2014.
The luxury residences are already on sale, expected to fetch
between $4.5 and $30 million. *Source:
